1. In life we gather baggage in a process called GROWTH. The kind of EXPERIENCES that we come across (good or tragic) form the basis of our CHARACTER and CONDUCT. Be careful not to inflict injury on others as a result of bad emotional seed sown in your life. People who have grown up with wounds all over their soul tend to injure others as part of their second nature. Sadly they take no notice of it and the injury is propagated in huge proportions through the generations. Many people are emotionally overweight unknowingly. Get rid of excess baggage (bitterness, anger etc.). It is not worth carrying around
2. It is easy to compromise the ULTIMATE for the IMMEDIATE, PRESSING and URGENT. Just because you want it badly does not make it necessary for DESTINY FULFILLMENT. It is so easy and possible to get what you WANT and lose the precious things you HAVE. You can miss DESTINY because of DESIRE to quench DESPERATION. Nothing is worth losing destiny for particularly the temporary things. FOCUS on the ULTIMATE and refuse enslavement by the IMMEDIATE. Your success hinges on this.
3. No matter how deep and wide your wisdom can be, there are things your mind can not predict / deduce such as your number of days here on earth. Life is too short to be lived MISERABLY and PURPOSELESSLY. Without PURPOSE and VISION, you are just living in the flesh but carrying an R.I.P tag. (Rest in Peace). One can have real working eyes yet remain blind, with no vision; just existing and occupying space. It is a lot better not to have physical vision and yet carry a mental picture of your DESTINY than to have both eyes and yet your tongue exposes lack of PURPOSE. Celebrate your greatness and significance today, even though it may not be evident.
3. TRUST, REPUTATION and WEALTH (like Rome) can never be built in a day. It may take a lifetime of CONSISTENCY, DISCIPLINE and INTEGRITY. It only takes one moment of madness to lose trust, reputation and wealth which fly away like the morning dew. Your ONE weakness has potential to keep you from reaching your full potential. ONE thing you must do is forget all that is in your past and press on building your LEGACY. You cannot build a legacy overnight.
4. Passive knowledge never benefits the carrier of it. Refusal to ACT out or ARTICULATE what you know is certainly wastage of innate capacity and potential. With your many years of study and experience of life, you are a qualified professor, why then act like a freshman? Apply yourself – DO what you know. Roll it out. There is no room for laziness in this century. Some knowledge is only useful to the extent to which the one who has it is willing to appropriate and apply the knowledge. There is no room for expecting things to just happen, tasks to suddenly accomplish themselves, procedures to set themselves up, processes to start themselves or books to write themselves. You have got to put both hands to the plough lest poverty haunts you.
5. If we could only TRUST the Creator the way He ENTRUSTS us we would not grow IMPATIENT and weary in well doing. He that promised is faithful to fulfill His obligations. Many times we shift our focus of trust to the CREATED at the expense of the CREATOR. Because of the volume of our impatience, we tend to shift our focus from what we have to do to try and assist the Creator with his mail in the INBOX. Your mail that you sent is not a bother to Him. It possibly has been acted on already. The unfortunate part is that the reply or return address you gave says “P.O DOUBT. MYWAY / NOWAYLANE”.
6. A lot of learning is CAUGHT not TAUGHT. You may not know it but you are a SILENT ROLE MODEL or MENTOR for someone out there. What are they catching from you? Sometimes people do not need to be close to you relationally to catch and learn from you. They do more on what you do (CHARACTER) than what you say (LECTURE). I strongly believe that a lot of influence we have on others is no merely a result of “sit down” lectures. Yes, you may spend time coaching your subordinates but most of the learning is from what they observe the master do. In the way you model your life, you can easily replicate yourself many times. This therefore points in the direction of you having responsibility over mankind. Model your life well even if you don’t get the fruits directly!! Be the silent model and mentor.
7. Mentors are like midwives in that they bring the best out of you. Their passion is to deliver significant results. Their role is not to control, dominate and dictate stuff to you but to guide, direct, suggest without feeling hurt if suggestions they give are not implemented They help identify and sharpen potential. They are not insecure; they actually rejoice when one excels and surpasses their achievements. There should never be a generation that exists without mentors. Mentoring relationships pass on the ideals from one generation to the next. There can never be a next generation if the present generation is not deliberate about sowing time in building the future.
8. Greatness has in the past been misconstrued as a measurement of the value of one’s assets or possessions. Greatness is in actual fact a factor of how much INFLUENCE and IMPACT you make in your lifetime. INTEGRITY, INSIGHT (Vision) and INNOVATION will propel your reach beyond balance sheet status. It will never profit you to gain the whole world and lose your soul in the process. Get that right and greatness will be second nature.
9. The way up to greatness is determined by your DETERMINATION, DESIRE and DILIGENCE to serve others. When you give up your DIGNITY and DESIGNATION (titles), you go up the success ladder. We lose great opportunities to rise because we are concerned about titles given to us by man. You can never be too big to serve others in your generation.
10. Refusal to face the man in the mirror is synonymous to hiding behind your finger. One of the people that is easy to shy away from is yourself. Like weeds, your weaknesses will grow unless clipped. Why wait for it to be a tree which needs an axe when you could have plucked with your fingers. Real growth will come when you show determination to face and CONFRONT your shortcomings while fresh and not CONCEAL. It is never easy to admit your addictions to yourself.
